Yes I've played aion for 4~5 years and the do a lot of events.

Gender preference included.

But I believe there will be events as that was the idea behind the Aus server. I CBF finding a quote, but I'm sure they said that the server would allow server based events to be hosted at Aussie friendly times

The gender change/plastic surgery as well as some other [Event] labeled items are given away weekly in KAion and CAion. We just have to wait I guess

Gender changing is already avaliable at the Deva of Life Transformation in Panda, for a small fee of kina as far as I remember.
